RESEARCH

This research project developed a landscape composed of various coexisting elements. Taxidermy, large coats that hide and reveal the body and other elements, and furniture populated the space whilst two curator-sleuths inhabit their tragi-comic world. Dark humour and the atmosphere of film noir underpin this sketch, made for proscenium theatre spaces. The central concerns were of growth and decay, falling and failing, growing and succeeding, nurture and construction, hiding and revealing. Jon Traynor's Bernard Herman inspired soundtrack strongly influenced the development of the work, as it began to inhabit magical realism and the filmic image. Supported by Free To Fall with Lee Smikle and Greenwich Dance.
